Discover the birthplace of Central Otago wine.

Located in Clyde, Monte Christo Winery welcomes guests to its meticulously restored heritage building, now home to our cellar door. Join us for guided wine tastings, private educational wine experiences, and educational winery tours that explore our history, vineyards, and winemaking philosophy. For a more intimate experience, book a premium hosted tasting in our Underground Cellar.
Bookings are required for private tastings and tours.

After your tasting, relax in the garden courtyard and enjoy food from Fritzy, our on-site food trailer. The menu focuses on seasonal, shareable plates, pizzas, and casual bites—designed to be enjoyed with a glass of wine in a relaxed, outdoor setting.

Just steps from the cellar door, our three beautifully appointed guest cottages offer a peaceful place to stay in the heart of the vineyard. With flexible room configurations, the cottages are ideal for couples, friends, or families, accommodating up to 10 guests in total.

Founded in 1864 by French settler Jean Désiré Féraud, Monte Christo Winery is recognised as the birthplace of Central Otago wine. Drawn to the potential of the Alexandra Basin, Féraud planted the region’s first vines—laying the foundations for what would become one of the world’s most respected cool-climate wine regions.

Today, the Paris family—led by Stanley Paris and his sons Nicholas and Alan—continue this legacy, crafting elegant, site-driven wines with a focus on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, while honouring the land and history of Central Otago.
