In 2015, Trail Journeys' parent company, World Expeditions, developed an award-winning Responsible Travel Guidebook. Its updated version, The Thoughtful Traveller, is designed to empower travellers with ideas on how they can be part of the solution and collectively make the world a better place when they travel. Trail Journeys is proud to be a part of this initiative.
With a fleet of over 600 custom trail bikes designed specifically for NZ Cycle Trails, Trail Journeys provides customized tours that include passenger, luggage, and bike transport, as well as accommodation and off-trail side trips like historic tours, a curling experience, and wine tours.
Their range of bikes ensures that they have a solution for almost everyone wanting to cycle. Their fleet includes low-step bikes, e-bikes, mountain bikes, kids' trailers, kids’ bikes, baby seats, and tandem bikes, as well as a recumbent eTrike for people with physically disabilities – a Central Otago first.
Their commitment to service means that they regularly refresh their fleet with new bikes. Ex-rental bikes that are fully serviced and remain in great condition are retired and sold or donated to local trusts ready for a new adventure. It is not uncommon to see a local out on the trails on a retired Trail Journeys bike.
