There is a wide choice of cellar doors to explore in Bannockburn and along Felton Road – some with food, some open by appointment and some just open seasonally– select your favourites to fit in with your timeframe.

The Felton Road section of cycle trail is accessed from the Lake Dunstan Trail at the Bannockburn Bridge. Once you cross the bridge to the Bannockburn side of the river, turn right and cycle up the hill before turning right again onto Felton Road. This is a 4 km easy grade trail and is the first completed section of the Kawarau Gorge trail which is due for completion summer 2025 - 2026.
Mt Difficulty is one of the earliest Cellar Doors to open in Central Otago. Here, the vines thrive in the schist soils, producing exquisite Pinot Noir, Riesling and more – all set against the striking backdrop of the Bannockburn Sluicings and the mountain it is named after. Take time to sip a glass of their finest and enjoy a lunch on the terrace overlooking the vines to the Cromwell basin and Lake Dunstan.
Te Kano – translates to 'The Seed’ in reference to an ancient Kowhai found on their Northburn vineyard. They are committed to a better future with their regenerative practices harmonizing with nature and through the words - life, land and legacy.
Terra Sancta, meaning special place is home to some of the first vines planted in Bannockburn. With its welcoming old-world charm, you’ll enjoy exceptional wines from their organic biodynamic vineyard.
On the site of an old apricot orchard, Domain Road's cellar door is also found on Felton Road. On land once mined for gold, their Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling grapes are thriving.
There are several more wineries along Felton Road open by appointment or at set times. Check out Gate 20 Two, Desert Heart and the prestigious Felton Road wines to name a few.

Head up the hill to find the iconic Bannockburn Hotel Wine Country Restaurant and Bar to indulge in their fabulous food matched with an extensive wine list of Central Otago and international wines. Near Bannockburn Hotel you'll also find Stewart Town vineyard which is accessed from Hall Road.
Another great option is to turn left at the Bannockburn bridge, staying on the Lake Dunstan trail until you reach Carrick – where you can enjoy either a winery lunch and tasting, or the more casual pedal and pour experience. Other close by gems are Akarua and Dicey wineries both with excellent wines and their own stories to tell.
