Alexandra Golf Club
Great 18 Hole Golf Course in the Heart of Central Otago. The Alexandra Golf Course offers a challenge to golfers of all abilities.
A hidden gem of a golf course located on the outskirts of the beautiful Central Otago town of Alexandra. The golf club was established in 1901 when a small group of prominent local men gathered at the old Bendigo Hotel and came up with the plan for a 9 hole course in the area now lying between the cemetery and Brandon Street. The course was later moved to the area at the top of Bridge Hill now called “Old Golf Course Road”. The current 18 hole course was established in the mid-1960s to meet growing demand for the sport.
The course is flat but undulating with well irrigated tree lined fairways from tee to green. Accuracy is important to avoid the rough areas consisting of the dry remnants of the original desert like land and native grasses. Only twice in the 18 holes do you play consecutive holes of equal par. It is a country course of quality that puts it among the best 18 hole courses of its kind in New Zealand. Visitors are always welcome to our club days and open competitions. Clubs, carts and buggies plus all your other golfing requirements are available from Sub Par golf shop open 7 days a week. After your round you can enjoy a drink in the bar or enjoy the view from the club house patio area.
Only just over an hour’s drive from Queenstown and Wanaka, the setting is beautiful, surrounded by sweeping views of hills and mountains typical of this historic part of Central Otago. There is plenty to see and do for golfers and non-golfers alike.
