Omakau Golf Club

Omakau is a 9 hole course which is set in quiet country surroundings with beautiful views. It is under irrigation, has 3 bunkers and 3 water hazards which attracts various bird life and some golf balls.

The Omakau Golf Course is a delightful nine-hole country paradise situated right in the very centre of New Zealand's South Island, about as far from the sea as it is possible to get.

The Otago Central Rail Trail, the country's most well-known cycling trail, passes along one side of the course.

It is not a flat course but, equally, there are no steep climbs. Every hole offers a new challenge and beautiful panoramas of the surrounding countryside, which includes the famous outcrops of schist rocks, peculiar to Central Otago. Fortunately, there are not too many of these on the course, so your ball is unlikely to suddenly take off in a strange direction unless, of course, you hit it there.

Green Fee Visitors are most welcome, the fee being $20.
