Douce Ambiance Southern Tour - The Violin Redefined

Douce Ambiance, led by Cathy Irons with Dan Robertson, Dougal Canard and Doug Brush, is renowned for their versatility and mastery across various musical genres.

Collectively named Douce Ambiance (literally Sweet Sounds"), Cathy and her fellow musicians are known for their incredible ability to switch effortlessly between different styles, eras and even instruments. Prepare to be enthralled by new sonic experiences with this multi-talented ensemble, where you can also savour the deep richness of the viola and the clear brilliance of acoustic guitar.

Inspired by the vibrancy and versatility of the violin, the ensemble will perform music from haunting ancient melodies to pulsating Gypsy tunes, through lively folk numbers across to the syncopated rhythms of Brazil and the passion of Spanish-Argentinian tango, interspersed with popular swing, blues and Latin numbers by Miles Davis, Chick Corea and others.

Described as “a magic whole” and bringing “remarkable soul dancing joy,” Douce Ambiance promises an unforgettable concert that will uplift spirits and inspire all who come.

For younger and curious audience members, there will be an informal time after the concert where a small violin will be available for to trying out.
