It could be described as a mash-up between Fast and Furious, The Italian Job and The World’s Fastest Indian—it’s got speed, style and good old Kiwi ingenuity in bucket loads.

Set in heartland Central Otago, with the visual drama of the Cromwell basin as backdrop—arid desert to the east, Southern Alps to the west and pristine lakes in between—Highlands Motorsport Park plunges visitors into a range of New Zealand’s fastest and most exceptional action adventures. This is one pit stop that just can’t be missed.

Blast around the 650 metre purpose built go-kart track in top-of-the-range German-built karts; get kitted out like a pro (race suit, gloves, boots and helmet) and strap in next to a professional driver for a genuine V8 supercar racing experience on the 4.1 kilometre circuit; check out the dune buggies for some exceptional off-road road action; ride a taxi like no other—a Porsche Cayenne Turbo—at speed; get behind the wheel of a Suzuki Swift Sport Race car for seven laps on the track’s purpose built circuit, and record the best time on the Top Gear-style leader board; or for a real adrenaline rush, try out the pure power of a Lamborghini fast dash—100 kilometres per hour in less than three seconds anyone?

But wait there’s more. Get among some clever car sculptures; tour rare racing cars in the national motorsport museum; take a fast lap with your choice of driver in the VR experience, tee off on the Bathurst-shaped mini-golf course; and, finally—phew—take a break in the cafe with its stunning views of the action.

All this delivered with an incredible dash of style and panache. This is world class entertainment in the heart of the fabulous wine and stone fruit regions of Bannockburn and Cromwell.

Highlands, not just a high point but a must see, must play playground for everyone.
